Hills

Five lists, 1,376 summits

Hillwalking in Britain and Ireland runs on lists. Here's what each one is, written for people who haven't come across them before.

Hills that aren't on any list

Some hills don't make anybody's list and are still worth a morning. I've added the ones near me, because they're where I'd send someone who hasn't done this before.

Meikle Balloch, Knock Hill, the Bin of Cullen — short enough to fit round a morning, a clear path, a view at the end, and nothing that'll catch you out in decent weather. They're a good way to find out how your legs handle a hill, and whether those boots are actually any good, before you drive two hours for something bigger.
